The Worlds Greatest Shave
Every hour of every day someone in Australia is diagnosed with leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma.
Currently, more than 30,000 Australians are living with one of these cancers but only 4 out of 10 adults survive.
Lymphoma is the fifth most common cancer in this country, and the number of people affected has doubled in the last 20 years.
The money we raise from the Leukaemia Foundation World's Greatest Shave will directly support patients and their families when they need it most.
15th March 2008 - 4.30PM, The Big Night
Well..... WE DID IT!
The night started with a few drinks & a roast pig on a spit, and ended with a lot of coloured hair, bald or nearly bald heads, AND a waxed chest!
We raised $2400.00 on the night, and altogether we've raised around $10,000.00 for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Special thanks go out to the following:
Dave and the boys at Kimberley Quarries, who raise around $2000.00, and well done Gareth for losing his treasured dread-locks.
Nippy Dann , and all those at BGC who chucked in bucks to get Nippy to shave his beloved afro, which he has been growing for the last 25 years! Congrats on your $2000.00 raised.
Anna Dep and Trenna Wadge , the two female participants who raised over $2000.00 between them for their head shaves. They are gorgeous ladies, inside and out - and their new do's look GREAT too!
Nick Wadge - the hairiest man at McCorry Brown Earthmoving, who decided to wax his chest-rug to raise funds for people with Leukaemia. Nick managed to raise over $500.00, and now has a smooth chest as well.
Also, a HUGE thank you to everybody who came down to the yard, gave their gold coins and whatever notes they had, to donate to this very important cause.
And to all those who pledged money, hope to see you soon! Honour your pledges athttp://www.worldsgreatestshave.com/profile.php?id=401722
